Challenges for Political Parties 



1. Lack of internal democracy: In most parties, power is in the hands of a handful of people. Ordinary members of the party cannot even dream of reaching high positions. The party's top leadership is often isolated from the grassroots workers. In such a situation, loyalty to the principles of the party has no meaning and loyalty to the top leadership becomes important.

2. Dynastic: In many parties, the people in the top positions are members of the same family. When a person becomes a leader just because he is born in a special family then democracy has no meaning. Such a situation is not only in India but also in many other countries.

3. Money and influence of criminal elements: Winning elections is the biggest challenge for any party. For this a political party leaves no stone unturned and spends money like water in the election process. Parties often resort to goons and criminals to intimidate voters and election officials.

4. Choicelessness: Most parties seem to be photocopies of each other. Very few political parties are able to provide a right alternative. People are left with no choice but to choose between two demons. In many states, the ruling party changes every five years, but still there is no change in the lives of the people.

राजनीतिक दलों के लिये चुनौतियाँ:

आंतरिक लोकतंत्र का अभाव: अधिकतर पार्टियों में कुछ मुट्ठीभर लोगों के हाथों में शक्ति होती है। पार्टी के साधारण सदस्य तो ऊँचे पदों पर पहुँचने का सपना भी नहीं देख सकते। पार्टी का शीर्ष नेतृत्व अक्सर जमीनी कार्यकर्ताओं से अलग थलग रहता है। ऐसी स्थिति में पार्टी के सिद्धांतों से स्वामिभक्ति का कोई मतलब नहीं रह जाता और शीर्ष नेतृत्व से स्वामिभक्ती अहम हो जाती है।

वंशवाद: कई पार्टियों में शीर्ष पदों पर बैठे लोग एक ही परिवार के सदस्य होते हैं। जब कोई व्यक्ति सिर्फ इस कारण से नेता बन जाता है कि वह एक विशेष परिवार में पैदा हुआ है तो लोकतंत्र का कोई मतलब नहीं रह जाता है। ऐसी स्थिति केवल भारत में ही नहीं बल्कि कई अन्य देशों में भी है।

पैसा और अपराधी तत्वों का प्रभाव: किसी भी पार्टी के लिये चुनाव जीतना ही सबसे बड़ी चुनौती होती है। इसके लिये एक राजनीतिक पार्टी कोई कसर नहीं छोड़ती और चुनाव प्रक्रिया में रुपये पानी की तरह बहाती है। पार्टियाँ अक्सर गुंडों और अपराधियों का सहारा लेती हैं ताकि मतदाताओं और चुनाव अधिकारियों को डराया जा सके।

विकल्पहीनता: ज्यादातर पार्टियाँ एक दूसरे की फोटोकॉपी लगती हैं। बहुत कम ही राजनीतिक पार्टी एक सही विकल्प दे पाती हैं। लोगों के पास दो शैतानों के बीच में से किसी एक को चुनने के अलावा और कोई रास्ता नहीं रह जाता है। कई राज्यों में तो हर पाँच साल पर सत्ताधारी पार्टी बदल जाती है लेकिन फिर भी लोगों के जीवन में कोई बदलाव नहीं आ पाता।
